Moab Elopement Films
Desert weddings in Arches, Canyonlands, and Castle Valley — 2.5 hours from my door in Durango.
I'm Rees Gibbons, and I've filmed adventure weddings in Moab's canyon country — Evan & Jessie's film below. Most Colorado videographers treat Moab as a destination; for me it's a Tuesday drive.
The desert is brutal on timelines: midday light is harsh and flat, spring winds hammer audio, summer heat compresses the day into golden mornings and evenings. I build Moab elopements around sunrise or sunset ceremonies, record vow audio with wind protection that actually works, and scout backups for when a trailhead lot fills.
A Moab adventure, on film
Where to elope in Moab
Permits differ wildly between the national parks and state land — I handle the research for every booking.
Arches National Park
La Sal Viewpoint and The Windows at sunrise — ceremony permits required.
Dead Horse Point
The canyon-rim panorama with easier permitting.
Canyonlands · Island in the Sky
Vast mesa views, fewer crowds.
Fisher Towers & Castle Valley
The cinematic classics along the Colorado River.
Under Canvas & private venues
Glamping weekend celebrations under desert stars.
Desert filming is its own craft
Your ceremony belongs within two hours of sunrise or sunset. Desert midday light is the least flattering you'll ever be filmed in — I schedule around it ruthlessly.
